The Principal

Jerome Coly

I'm a French-trained civil engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering in Road & Bridge Engineering from ESTP Paris. Over more than 20 years I've delivered bridge and infrastructure projects across three countries—from post-tensioned structures with Freyssinet in France and Morocco, to motorway construction with Laing O'Rourke and ACCIONA here in Australia.

Since arriving in South Australia in 2011, I've contributed to the state's largest road and bridge programs, including T2T, T2D, Gateway South, the DIT Bridge Renewal Program, and the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant. I bring international design expertise combined with hands-on site-level construction knowledge—and I founded JCY Construction Engineering to give clients direct access to that experience without the overhead of a large firm.

How I Work

A System & Process Driven Approach.

Every project starts the same way. I dive into the design drawings, the technical requirement specifications, the standards, and the program for the package I'm responsible for. Then I run two checks before anyone breaks ground.

01

Internal Sanity Check

Are the design drawings, technical requirements, standards, and program all coherent with each other? Mismatches are caught before procurement and before the first crew shows up on site.

02

External Clash Detection

Permanent design works, temporary works, existing infrastructure, as-builts, live overhead cables, and underground services all checked against each other. Risks identified, issues flagged, the team prepared.

03

Team Goals & Tracking

Goals are set, progress is tracked, the program is updated, and status is reported. The package gets delivered smoothly so the wider project stays on track.

04

Where to Pay Attention

From experience, I know where the details bite and where the surprises hide. I prep the team for the challenges before they arrive on site.
