For Alliance Projects

Specialist Engineering for
Alliance Project Delivery

Alliance delivery models demand engineers who can work across organisational boundaries. JCY brings direct experience from two of South Australia's largest alliance projects -- the T2T Torrens to Torrens Motorway and the GREP Gawler Rail Electrification -- where interface management and cross-team coordination determined project success.

Alliance Delivery Challenges

The Engineering Challenges Unique to Alliances

Alliance models share risk and reward, but they also share complexity. These are the engineering challenges that JCY solves within alliance teams.

Interface Management Between Alliance Partners

Your alliance has a head contractor, a design consultant, a government client, and multiple subcontractors -- each with different systems, standards, and expectations. Design interfaces between structural packages create ambiguity about responsibility, and without a dedicated engineering coordinator, gaps emerge between what is designed and what is built. Interface registers grow, but technical resolution lags behind.

Methodology Alignment Across Disciplines

The bridge team has one construction sequence, the road team has another, and the services relocation timeline does not align with either. In an alliance model, where pain and gain are shared, misaligned construction methodologies create programme delays that affect every partner's bottom line. You need an engineer who can see across disciplines and align construction approaches before they conflict on site.

Handover Coordination and Completion

The construction is substantially complete, but handover documentation is incomplete, as-built records do not match the final construction, and the independent verifier has outstanding items. Alliance projects require seamless handover to the asset owner, and engineering gaps at this stage delay practical completion certificates and final payments. You need structured handover coordination from someone who has been through the process before.

Alliance Project Experience

Proven Alliance Delivery

Jerome Coly has been embedded within two of South Australia's largest alliance projects, working directly with contractors, designers, and government stakeholders.

T2T Alliance -- Torrens to Torrens Motorway

$896M

Partners: York Civil, CPB Contractors, Aurecon, DPTI

Role: Design Manager (Bridges & Post-Tensioning)

Embedded within the T2T Alliance as Design Manager for bridge construction, coordinating between Aurecon's design team and York Civil's construction crews. Managed post-tensioning design interfaces, construction methodology alignment, and technical submissions across multiple bridge structures on the Torrens to Torrens motorway project.

GREP Alliance -- Gawler Rail Electrification Project

$715M

Partners: ACCIONA, DIT, Siemens Mobility, Tonkin

Role: Contract Manager & Construction Manager (Structures)

Dual role as Contract Manager and Construction Manager for structures and civil works within the GREP Alliance. Managed interfaces between ACCIONA's construction team, Siemens Mobility's rail systems, Tonkin's design, and DIT's project governance. Coordinated bridge modifications, platform works, and structural construction across the Gawler rail corridor.

Why JCY for Alliances

An Engineer Who Understands
Alliance Culture

Alliance projects succeed when team members think beyond their organisation's boundaries. Jerome Coly has spent years embedded within alliance teams, not as an external consultant delivering reports, but as an integrated team member attending daily stand-ups, resolving design clashes in real time, and coordinating construction sequences across multiple disciplines.

This means JCY understands the alliance behaviours that drive performance: collaborative problem-solving, open-book decision making, and best-for-project outcomes rather than best-for-party positions.
